This beautiful wall of windows is something I see probably 5 or 6 times a day. The light and shadow patterns change each time, and this diffuse vista is one I look forward to.
You can't find this just anywhere in the library -- only if you're using the ladies room on the first floor!

Today's photograph is for my mom, who wondered why most of the daily library photos seem to be all be mild in the color department.
Lucky for her, I found this poking out of the stacks yesterday. Brilliant!
When books are too thin to stand on their own on the shelves they get bound into thick cardboard sleeves.
This makes looking for titles and call numbers difficult however, as they're often hidden on the front covers and the print on the spines is so tiny.
These look so orderly and serious.
Oh, I missed you all on Monday! So for Tuesday, here are two pictures.
Those lovely pastels for the "Who's Who" (the Australian version) remind me of Necco wafers. Remember those? I used to always choose a package of Necco wafers on the rare occasions where I was allowed to buy candy, not so much for the taste, but because you got a lot of bang for your buck. I should count them sometime, I think maybe you get 30 or 40 wafers in one package.
And the stacks of newspapers are in the Asian American Collection on the second floor.
Aren't these cool?
Endpapers from a scientific journal on the second floor -- I think the designs are supposed to represent invertebrates or mollusks or protozoa -- I'm not sure.
But as a graphic study in black and white they're perfect for whatever form you choose to view them in.
I have to hand it to our stack services.
For all the time I've spent in this library, I think this was the only time I saw evidence of something out of place.

The call number tags are pretty old too -- there aren't many done in that style in the library.

So, instead of a library photograph, I give you a picture of Maudie. She's a brand new member of my parents household.
She's a rescued racing greyhound and is the sweetest dog I've ever had the pleasure to meet.
Ceiling light on the second floor. You can see how aged and rusty the metal surrounding the bulb is, along with the discolored ceiling tile.
The library is a mishmash of several buildings, a two story, a four story, and an eight story. The two story is the original library and one of my favorites. Although it shows its age sometimes, it's one of my favorite floors to do shelf checks on and the light is always good for pictures. It's quite the maze up there and more than a few times I've been stopped by an undergrad who's gotten lost.
